Engagement Shoots
One of my favorite photo sessions is the engagement shoot. Many couples use the photographs for a 'Save the Date' card which is great. But from my perspective, the value in the session is getting to know your wedding photographer. Most of us (especially me) are nervous in front of a camera. How do I pose, should I smile, where do I look - all those questions run through your head. On the day of the wedding is really not the time to confront all those fears. A successful engagement session gives you the opportunity to practice and to learn to feel comfortable with your photographer. Wedding days get hectic despite all the countless hours of planning. An engagement session gives you some time to learn to relax and have fun while being photographed. I can't recommend it highly enough!!
Have fun !!
Discuss your choice of outfits ahead of time
Discuss a great location. This photo was taken at Roger Williams Park in Providence Rhode Island at the peak of foliage season. A great location is key. Think about the time of day. I love shooting photos around sunset if possible. The lighting is beautiful !!
Most importantly - Engage with each other. This is the time to be young (or not so young) and in love. Don't be just friends or roomies and for God's sakes - don't be business colleagues. This is the day for PDA. It's a trial run for the wedding
I'll say it again - HAVE FUN!!
